Liposuction for Gynecomastia Treatment

Gynecomastia is a condition that causes enlarged breast tissue in men due to a hormonal imbalance. When this condition doesn't resolve on its own, VASER Liposuction can be used to reduce the fatty tissue in the breasts and provide a more masculine physique. Excess skin can also be removed during the procedure. Dr. Barone can perform gynecomastia surgery at her San Antonio plastic surgery office.

Why Choose Dr. Barone for Liposuction

Dr. Barone

Advanced VASER Lipo and 4D Body Contouring

Dr. Barone uses VASER Lipo to break down fat cells with ultrasonic precision, resulting in less bruising, faster recovery, and smoother results than traditional liposuction. She can then refine your contours further with 4D body contouring, a fat transfer technique that sculpts natural-looking muscle definition for a toned, athletic appearance.

Awake Liposuction for a Comfortable Experience

Fear of going under anesthesia is one of the most common concerns patients have about liposuction. Dr. Barone offers awake liposuction using local anesthesia so you can remain fully conscious and comfortable throughout your procedure, with no nausea and a faster recovery. General anesthesia is also available for patients who prefer it.

VASER Lipo: The Most Advanced Technique To Date

Here at Barone Plastic Surgery in San Antonio, TX, we're proud to offer the most innovative liposuction treatment available. VASER Lipo uses ultrasonic sound waves to break down fat cells before they are suctioned out. VASER is gentler and more controlled than other forms of liposuction and requires an expert such as Dr. Barone to perform it correctly. Benefits of VASER include:

Easier Recovery

Because of the delicate nature of the technique, VASER Lipo results in less swelling and bruising compared to traditional liposuction. Patients have less downtime and can return to work and their daily activities sooner.

Treat Multiple Areas at Once

VASER Lipo is less invasive than other options and allows patients to address multiple areas at once. This means there will only be one total procedure and one recovery period to plan for.

Target Any Area

When people think of liposuction, they usually think of targeting the abdomen, thighs, or back. VASER Lipo makes it possible to target tricky areas such as the chin, neck, or ankles with ease.

More Precise

VASER Lipo targets fat cells with incredible precision. There is minimal damage to surrounding connective tissue, nerves, or blood vessels, resulting in a seamless procedure with superior results when compared to traditional liposuction methods.

Advanced CAL System

The custom acoustic liposuction (CAL) system effectively removes fat deposits with minimal impact to surrounding tissue. Also known as the Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture (NIL) system, this method allows patients to feel less pain and soreness during recovery and return to normal physical activities faster. CAL liposuction uses low-frequency acoustic infrasonic vibrations to liquefy fat tissues before they are removed using a cannula, the device used in all lipo procedures to suction fatty tissue out of the treatment area. This differs from traditional liposuction, in which tissues are physically broken apart using a wand before being removed from the body.

Tumescent Liposuction

Tumescent liposuction uses a unique blend of fluids, including local anesthesia and epinephrine. When injected, the solution numbs the area, shrinks blood vessels, and isolates the fat layer. This makes it easier to suction out the fat for a smoother procedure. Tumescent liposuction is designed to remove large amounts of fat tissue with minimal blood loss.

Super-Wet Liposuction

Similar to tumescent liposuction, super-wet liposuction uses medical fluids during surgery. During this procedure, the amount of fluid injected is less than what is used in tumescent liposuction – it equals the amount of fat removed. This variation can be completed in less time than tumescent liposuction and is also specifically designed to minimize blood loss.

We use a number of different types of liposuction techniques at our San Antonio, TX, practice. Dr. Barone has advanced training and expertise beyond that of the typical surgeon and can help determine which option is best for you.

What Factors Affect Liposuction Cost?

Liposuction is one of the few plastic surgery procedures that can be applied to many different areas of the body. Because liposuction application is so versatile, no two procedures cost the same at our San Antonio, TX, office. Different variables factor into the final liposuction cost, including the area being treated and the type of anesthesia used.

Liposuction is typically less expensive in areas of the body such as the arms. Larger areas like the abdomen cost more because more fat is typically removed. Many patients choose to have liposuction on several areas of their bodies simultaneously to consolidate healing, which will naturally lead to a higher cost.

Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

Good Overall Health

Patients must be in good overall health to be considered for liposuction surgery. Certain medical conditions can negatively impact the healing process and cause complications.

Good Skin Elasticity

Liposuction cannot tighten loose or excess skin. Our plastic surgeon can combine a tummy tuck, thigh lift, or other procedures with liposuction for comprehensive cosmetic results. She can also perform nonsurgical skin tightening after your liposuction treatment.

Close to Ideal Weight

Patients must be within 30% of their ideal weight to qualify for liposuction surgery. Liposuction is not a weight loss treatment; instead, it is intended to remove small amounts of stubborn fat (five to eight pounds of tissue).

Non-Smoker

Smoking negatively affects liposuction surgery, anesthesia, and healing. Candidates must be willing to quit smoking for about a month prior to the procedure and should ideally drop the habit for good.

We Offer Awake Surgery: Maintain Complete Comfort While Remaining Conscious

For patients who want to remain fully conscious during their liposuction procedure, Dr. Barone provides awake surgery, which is performed using only local anesthesia at our San Antonio, TX, office. Awake surgery provides many benefits:

No Nausea

Patients feel no pain and don't experience nausea that comes with other forms of anesthesia during awake surgery.

More Affordable

In most cases, awake liposuction is less expensive than using IV sedation or general anesthesia, making it a more affordable yet reliable option.

Feel in Control

The thought of being unconscious for surgery can make some patients anxious. Awake surgery lets you feel in control and aware at all times.

VASER Liposuction: Step by Step

VASER Liposuction is one of our most popular liposuction options. Here is a look at what you can expect during this modern approach to liposuction:

Our San Antonio surgeon offers different liposuction methods. She will choose the technique that is best suited to your goals.

Anesthesia

Our team will take measures to maintain your comfort throughout treatment. If you wish to receive general anesthesia, it will be administered at this time. If you wish to undergo an awake procedure, pain will be eliminated through the use of a local anesthetic.

Fluid Injection

A solution containing an anesthetic will be injected into the fatty tissue you wish to remove. This step minimizes bleeding and begins to break down the unwanted fat cells, making them easier to remove.

Incisions

Dr. Barone will create small incisions in the treatment area that will give her better access to the fatty tissue.

Fat Removal

Dr. Barone will use the ultrasound probe to liquefy the fatty tissue, which is then gently suctioned away using the cannula. The cannula consists of a small needle on the end of a tube that is responsible for transporting the fatty tissue out of the treatment area. Most of the fluid injected at the start of the procedure will also be removed via the cannula, but a small amount will be left behind to help control discomfort after the procedure.

Sutures

Dr. Barone will use sutures to close the incisions.

In-Office Recovery & Checkout

After surgery, you will spend a short time in our office resting. Later, a trusted adult will drive you home to begin your recovery.

4D Body Contouring for Beautiful Results

For patients looking to achieve a sculpted and more defined look after VASER Lipo, Dr. Barone offers 4D body contouring. The fat cells removed during VASER Lipo are purified and prepared to be re-injected through a fat transfer. Dr. Barone skillfully injects the fat into the desired areas to create the appearance of muscle definition and athletic contours.

4D body contouring is an excellent way to eliminate problem areas while enhancing other areas of your body, such as the buttocks, for a fuller, more proportionate appearance. Dr. Barone can explain the entire process during your consultation and create a personalized treatment plan that can highlight your natural beauty and enhance your contours.
